Law Night Ruled A Success

On Thursday February 26th The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein remained open well into the night to give Mainers everywhere an even greater access to justice. “Law Night,” as the promotion is called, is designed to give those who may not have access to a telephone during the day, a chance to call our law firm at night.

The extended service on Law Night is free to Mainers and is available statewide as our firm remains open until 10pm. Mainers with questions about personal injury and Social Security Disability law can call and speak with one of our legal professionals directly and confidentially from the comforts of their own home, and have their legal questions answered at their convenience.

Fosomax The Next Vioxx?

A study recently published in the Journal of the American Dental Association says that people taking the drug Fosomax may be at risk of developing a rare disorder called osteonecrosis. The disease is a condition marked by pain, swelling, and infection in the jaw, and is more commonly known as Dead Jaw.

Manufactured by the pharmaceutical conglomerate Merck, Fosomax is designed to fight bone loss and is used to prevent osteoporosis, a disease that increases the risk of serious and debilitating fractures. The drug is also used by to prevent Paget’s disease and is prescribed to an estimated 10 million Americans with sales topping $3 billion annually.

Gary's House Hosts Families And Functions

On February 12th, Gary’s House held its 4th annual Dine Around The World Food and Wine Tasting Extravaganza at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. The event featured food and drinks from some of the area’s top restaurants and bars, as well as gifts donated by local businesses for the silent auction.

The fundraiser is one of the most acclaimed in Portland, drawing over 400 people annually, and helps raise money to house the families of those receiving medical treatment at Mercy Hospital or the Maine Medical Center.

Turnpike Tolls On The Rise Again

For the second time in four years the tolls on the Maine Turnpike have gone up. The increase comes one year earlier than planned, as the state looks to fund highway and bridge repairs, as well as combat the increase in maintenance costs such as road salt.
