2-1-1 Maine: Resource Hotline Provides Answers And Options

2-1-1 Maine, a statewide resource directory that connects Mainers  to over 8,000 health and human services, agencies and support groups, is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

The toll free hotline Call Center, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is available all across Maine and can be accessed from a cell phone or landline phone. Simply dial the digits, 2-1-1.

How to use 2-1-1:

 

Mainers should use 2-1-1's services when they need to obtain resources and answers on issues including but not limited to: Alzheimer’s resources, basic needs (food, shelter, clothing), child care, child development, children’s health and insurance, consumer assistance, counseling, crisis intervention, disability services, elder care, emergency shelter, energy assistance, financial assistance, gambling problems, health care, home care, legal assistance, maternal/child health services, parenting education programs, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS testing, senior services, suicide prevention and transportation.

** 2-1-1 should not be used in the case of an emergency. Instead, please dial 9-1-1 if you need ambulance, police or fire department services. **

2-1-1 Maine serves and helps nearly 80,000 callers each year. The program is funded jointly by the state and the United Way.
